Trying to decide
I'm watching a bunch of environmental films: carbon nation 2012 a time to change, the age of stupid, the inconvenient truth. Theres a bunch more on my list but these are the these are the ones I wanted to see the most. I'm trying to decide the order I watch them in; depressing hard fact films 1st, followed by optimistic alternate energy films after. I've also got another environmental film "valley of the wind" which I think would be apropriate to watch last; both heartbreakingly sad and warming at the same time (I imagine this would be the case as most Miazaki films are).

So 2012 was very disappointing. It was advertised as an environmental film. I was expecting an exploration of how we could potentially evolve socially to save ourselves. But it is solely a 1 hour interview talking about extreme spirituality with little reference to to our current situation and ways we can resolve this. This is fine, but its not what I'm after. I want to help people make personal shifts and develop acceptance towards sustainable living. However talking about UFO's and spiritual fornication is a better way of scaring people of than achiever the former.
ReplyDelete..... however valley of the wind was amazing..... and a little to close (only infinitely better) than what I'm doing.
ReplyDeleteThis makes me want to reflect on how I intend for my project to be unique; I will be drawing from Maori mythology to create a setting unique to New Zealand...... I think thats all Ive got at the moment.
